ALCOSAN’s Clean Water Assistance Fund, approved by the Board of Directors in 2016, is available to assist eligible homeowners pay their bill.

About the Fund

ALCOSAN has committed $1 million dollars in order to provide this vital customer assistance program for low-income individuals and families. It has contracted with Dollar Energy Fund Inc. to administer the program. Dollar Energy is a leader in this field, and it already handles similar assistance programs for other utilities.

How it Can Help

The grant from ALCOSAN’s Clean Water Assistance Fund is $34 every three months.

The credit will be applied to your account by the agency that bills you for sewage treatment – for example, these bills may come from Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority, Jordan Tax Service, Wilkinsburg-Penn Joint Water Authority, your municipality or some other agency.

The credits will automatically appear every three months, even if you are billed monthly, bimonthly or quarterly.

Applicants must meet the following family income guidelines set by the Federal Government.

For households with more than eight members, add $560 per month or $6,720 per year for each additional person.

How to Apply

Applications are accepted in person at dozens of Dollar Energy’s agencies. Call 1-888-282-6816, for an appointment to apply in person.  You will need to provide a copy of your water/sewage bill, which includes ALCOSAN charges, as well as your Social Security number and proof of your monthly household income.
