ALCOSAN is committed to continuously providing innovative and creative programming that encourages students, professionals and communities to increase awareness of the wastewater treatment process and sustainability.

National Engineers Week

ALCOSAN celebrates National Engineers Week in February with programming for students in grades 6 -12. This is a perfect time to recognize engineers and allow students to explore the design process through a designated STEM activity.

This year, we will facilitate an engineering activity virtually for students on February 16-26, 2021. To request outreach for your classroom, teachers can email soevents@alcosan.org.

Also, in partnership with SPEO, a free virtual hands-on workshop for students in grades 6-12 will be held on February 22, 2021 at 10 a.m. Register to attend.

Pre-K Explore Day (3 to 6 years old)

This is an opportunity for preschool age kids to explore a fun hour of science during Early Childhood month. This would provide an overview to our youngest students by introducing them to basic science concepts and teaching across the curriculum. Follow ALCOSAN's upcoming events for more information.

Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day, April 22, 2021, ALCOSAN develops a signature activity that focuses on the environment. If you are interested in participating, send an email to SOevents@alcosan.org

Second and Third Grade Science Saturdays

This coming Spring and Fall, students in grades 2-3 will have the opportunity to explore fun interactive science challenges at ALCOSAN. This program will provide exposure to parents and students who would be interested in registering for Summer Science once they reach eligibility by completing 4th grade. Follow ALCOSAN's upcoming events for more information.

National Chemistry Week

ALCOSAN celebrates National Chemistry Week in October for students in grades 6 -12. Chemistry is an important part of the wastewater treatment process and students will explore various hands-on activities.

Disability Mentoring Day

Every October ALCOSAN participates in Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) to provide students an insight of hands-on career exploration and mentoring opportunities available through our partnership with Bender Consulting.

Storm Drain Stenciling Program

ALCOSAN’s Storm Drain Stenciling Program is designed to educate people about the potential for storm drain contamination and the pollution of local waterways. Scholastic Outreach provides step-by-step instructions to help participants obtain permission to paint stencils on storm drains. It provides all supplies along with notices to be given to residents. For more information, please email the Scholastic Outreach Department or call 412-734-6293.
